Luke's Lighthouse Original Painting by Stephen Lursen
My son Luke asked me to paint a painting with him in it after I painted a portrait of his sister recently. We talked about what he wanted to be doing in the painting and he said he wanted the two of us in it. He wanted me pushing him on a swing. I loved the idea and set to work.
My wife loved the idea of making us under a magical sky. I added stars and string lights complete with glow in the dark paint to glow after the lights get turned off. The treehouse itself is one of my favorite parts with the rustic texture in all purple (Luke's favorite color). The glowing light from within the treehouse is a golden bronze color, the complimentary color to purple (on the color wheel) for a maximum contrast. The primary colors in the sky are blue, taking inspiration from Van Gogh's Starry Night painting.
I hope this painting fills it's room with a joyful sense of love and wonder.
36"x36" x 1.5" deep, gallery depth canvas. Ready to hang.
